Whether you are a current participant in music at SPUMC, or are considering joining us, please review the updated schedule. I hope you will read about the various music-making opportunities available, and consider making a joyful noise to the Lord through ringing or singing. There are opportunities for children, youth and adults.

Do I Need to Be Able to Read Music?

No. We hope to create quality musical experiences and offerings for worship that are accessible to a wide range of musical abilities and experience. If you’ve never sung in a choir, or never rung handbells, please don’t let that stop you from participating.

Am I Good Enough to Be in the Choir?

Yes. No audition is necessary! If you have a song in your heart and are looking for a way to express it for the glory of God, but are unsure whether your abilities are suitable for either the choir or handbell ensemble, please contact Jessica. She will meet with you individually if you wish, to determine the best way for you to contribute to the music ministry. Or, just start coming to rehearsal!

Do I Have to Be at Every Rehearsal and Present Every Sunday?

No. While it’s wonderful if people can commit to regular participation, we know that people lead lives that often take them in many different directions. If you’d like to participate, even if you may not be able to do so regularly, please contact Ernest.

CHAPEL BELLS: For Adults and High School Students                Thursdays, 6:30-7:30 in the Sanctuary

Make a joyful noise to the Lord!  Enjoy making music with our beautiful English handbells.  Come join in the fun and fellowship.  Rehearsals begin Thursday, August 29, in the sanctuary.  The Chapel Bells ring at the 11 a.m. service approximately once per month.

CHANCEL CHOIR: Adult Vocal Ensemble                                         Thursdays, 7:30-9 in the Choir Room

Lift your voice in song for the glory of God, joining together as we sing songs of faith, exultation and prayer.  Experience the joy of musical fellowship as a participant in the Chancel Choir!  Prior experience is not necessary.  Rehearsals begin Thursday, August 29, in the choir room.  The Chancel Choir sings every Sunday at the 11 a.m. worship service, meeting prior to the service at 10:35 in the Choir Room.  (Special note: If you are not sure whether you can commit to singing with us every week, please consider joining us as frequently as you are able. We are always looking for singers!)

RAISE THE PRAISE: Contemporary Praise and Worship Team
Sundays, 8:15 – 9:00 am in the Social  Hall

Praising His name in music.  The Raise the Praise worship team includes musicians and support members who love contemporary Christian music and have a desire to lead the congregation in praise and worship.  The team supports the weekly 9:00 am Awakening worship service.  We lead the congregation in songs you are likely to hear on the contemporary Christian radio stations during the week.  The team includes musicians, sound technicians, audio-visual technicians, and other support members who work together to provide an appropriate setting for the worship experience each Sunday.  We practice each Sunday morning before the Awakening service and on the first Saturday afternoon of each month. If you are interested in becoming part of the Praise Team, please contact Glen Phillips.
