Member Care
St. Paul UMC

The heart of our ministry is each other

Sharing God's Love. Caring for All. Daring to Act.

Our vision at St. Paul could not be more simple nor simultaneously more encompassing!

Member Care

Member care is at the heart of everything we do at St. Paul UMC. It is essential to the nurturing of our congregation in ways that affect everything the church does, and it is the embodiment of our vision statement: “Sharing God’s love.  Caring for all.  Daring to Act.”

Member care is intertwined and inextricably linked to all the other ministries of the church, including worship, education, and outreach. Nurturing the faith of our congregation and assisting them in their journey to discipleship equips and enables them to live our vision statement and to walk with Jesus daily, and it empowers and encourages them to dare to act.

Ministry Focus Areas:

Spiritual Formation:
Spiritual formation is a foundational aspect to member care. It is essential to help our congregation to grow in knowledge; in understanding of God’s will in their lives; and in faith to equip and encourage them to walk with Jesus, to strengthen them in good times, and to sustain them in difficult times.

In addition to worship and special activities, St. Paul UMC offers three adult Sunday School classes and a variety of Bible studies and special studies, including an ongoing, every Tuesday evening Bible study via Zoom to which all are welcome. Contact the church office for the Zoom link.

Prayer Ministry:
St. Paul encourages the congregation to share their prayer concerns and maintains a prayer list so that everyone in the congregation can pray for each other and for their special concerns.  In addition, we have a team of  “prayer warriors,” who are actively in prayer for our church family and their connections. We also have a Wednesday Worship and Devotional Prayer service via Zoom every Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m.

Fellowship:
Opportunities for fellowship are crucial to enable our congregants to really get to know each other and to form the bonds of friendship that lead to the confidence that your church friends are your “church family” on whom you can depend for support and encouragement.

These bonds grow through interactions, particularly in small groups and work groups such as participating together in outreach ministry projects, Sunday School classes, Bible studies, and social activities.

Hospitality:
St. Paul’s Hospitality Team plans regular and special church-wide social activities. Visitors are always welcome to participate in these activities. The team hosts a monthly time of fellowship on Sunday morning after the worship service. Several times during the year, they sponsor a fellowship meal or event such as a potato luncheon, chili luncheon, salad luncheon, ice cream social, and church picnic.

The Hospitality Team also sponsors our Nine to Dine program in which couples, singles, and families are linked in groups of nine (or more) to get together once a month for four months to share a meal or other activity. At the end of the four months, new groups are formed enabling everyone to spend “quality time” with more people in small groups to connect together and better know more people in your church family.
